After Prohibition was repealed in 1933, Niebaum's widow, named Suzanne Niebaum, reopened the Inglenook winery and brought in a viticulturist and winemaker to update the winemaking system. Niebaum died in 1908 and the winery was closed during Prohibition. Inglenook winery was founded in 1879 by Finnish captain Gustave Niebaum.
